MINI In For ECU & Haldex Wiring Repair – Fault Finding & Fix
We recently had a MINI brought to us after another garage replaced the Haldex ECU due to water damage. The issue was that they still couldn’t get any communication with the unit afterwards, so the vehicle came into us for further diagnostics.
🔎 Diagnostic Process
We began by pin-point testing the Haldex ECU connector and quickly discovered a major wiring fault. One of the key circuits had 0 volts and no ground present.
After further investigation, we identified that the ignition live feed supplying the Haldex system wasn’t operating correctly.
🔧 Repair Approach
Rather than stripping half the interior trying to trace the wiring fault (which can run under carpets, trims, and body sections), we provided a cleaner and more reliable solution by fitting a relay-controlled ignition feed.
This allowed us to restore power to the unit safely and reliably without unnecessary labour or damage.

Once the wiring issue was resolved, we carried out:
ECU configuration
Haldex system coding
Software alignment using genuine MINI dealer software
After coding was complete, the vehicle communicated correctly and the Haldex system returned to full operation.

With the wiring issue resolved and ECU correctly coded, the MINI left us performing exactly as it should — and another customer drove away happy!
